Located in the Tsou territory of Shanmei Village, Alishan Township, Chiayi County, at an elevation of 500 meters, the 18-kilometer-long Danayiku Stream winds through the area, its waters crystal clear amid rugged boulders, where you can watch the successfully restored population of Formosan landlocked salmon swimming freely. Here you can not only watch schools of fish swarming upstream, but also enjoy the layered green mountain scenery and the mirror-like clear blue-green waters, letting you escape the hustle and bustle and return to nature. Guanyin Waterfall in Zhuqi Township, Chiayi County, is located on a branch of the Niuchou Stream system, the upper reaches of the Puzi River. The stream cascades down from the top of a cliff, and from a distance, the cliff face resembles the goddess Guanyin standing sideways, holding a vase and sprinkling water — hence its name.
There are a total of 8 waterfalls in the area, cascading down from the mountain peaks and forming spectacular sights scattered throughout the forest canyon. The Alishan Forest Recreation Area Administration once commissioned a professional team to survey the site, finding that during the rainy season, Guanyin Waterfall Park has a negative ion concentration of 12,000 to 69,000 units per cubic centimeter, which is very helpful for relieving stress.
